Philomena, AKA Mena, AKA Phil, recently injured herself whilst out on a mountain adventure, the diagnosis is a torn cruciate ligament in her left knee. Unfortunately, surgery is the only solution for this. Some of Mena’s friends with 2 legs expressed a desire to chip-in to help with the costs of the operation, (from start to finish, the estimate is approximately $6000). So we set up this fund for those of you who would like to contribute. We know times are really hard right now, and money is tight, but if you have the means to add a few dollars, it all adds up, and would be much appreciated.
If you've hung out with Mena, you know that she is an excellent dog, companion, athlete and protector. You also know she can not see a ball, frisbee, rock or stick that she doesn’t want you to throw for her. She will scale a mountain and ward off bears and intruders if need be.
But she isn’t allowed to do any of that at the moment for fear of making the injury worse or more painful. She’s on strict low / no activity orders from the vet.
This makes for one very sad Mena.
With a successful operation and after-care, she should be back to her normal happy self in 10-12 weeks. The recovery will be difficult for such an active girl, but we are determined to have her catching balls and swimming in waterfalls by next spring. She wants to play Frisbee with you again !
We will post updates and photos of the road to recovery.
Thanks, Friends !
