Hey ya all,
Some of you may know my buddy Phillip. He is a good guy with a great family that needs some help and is afraid and embarrassed probably to ask himself. Phillip has been through a lot medically since July of 2024.
All starting with a heart attack and then triple bypass surgery a few weeks later where he also had his sternum wired back shut and 3 titanium plates placed on the bone as well. Then just a few short weeks later, he developed an infection in the wound that caused a completely open chest wound and wound vacuum being applied and used 24/7 for 4 months.
Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital with multiple infections in the wound. These ended him up with numerous more surgeries and just this last surgery (hoping the last as there are not many more options left). They went back in and removed all the wires, plates, and screws as it was finally determined the infectious organisms had spread and were living on that metal hardware in his chest. Along with the removal, he had to have a pectoral muscle flap done to bring good tissue and support that chest area.
He is on intravenous antibiotics for 12 weeks post-op at home to hopefully kill off any of the remaining infection. So as you can see, he has been through a lot physically and mentally and also the financial strains.
Phillip has “NOT” worked since basically the heart attack at the end of July 2024 and gets a small monthly benefits check; that’s it for income. His wife who is his daily care giver as he is very limited on daily active with lifting limits etc.
As with the new year, insurance premiums have gone up some along with out-of-pocket deductibles starting over to meet before more coverage kicks in.
And very soon he will be having to cover the full monthly cost of the monthly insurance premium cost through the COBRA insurance plan. On top of daily living costs.
So please let’s all help Phillip with the recovery by relieving him of the financial worries and stresses as you can tell all this has caused.
Like I said, Phillip is a good friend and great guy with the best family, so again let’s help ease those financial strains and stresses of everyday living and medical costs and others on him and his family so they can all just focus on his recovery.
Please also take a minute if you would to share this post to help reach out.
Thank you all for listening and giving to this greater cause.
