Phil's ongoing health journey
Phil was diagnosed 8 years ago with a form of heart failure that enlarges the heart and makes it slowly die. We have been blessed that he had responded well to drug therapy and was stable for several years.
Then in 2018 he began having trouble walking, his heart was not pumping enough blood to his feet and he was in agonizing pain so much he had to crawl at times. After much research we found stem cell therapy as a solution since his doctors were unable to help with his condition. We met with the stem cell doctors and decided to go ahead with the treatment. Within weeks the pain was gone and he was up walking, and over the next year all his heart tests came back showing improvement. We did two units of stem cell treatments all out of our savings as it is not covered by insurance.
Recently we met with an orthopedic surgeon because Phil has been having severe pain in his left shoulder for years. Many doctors have dismissed it as a strain, pulled muscle etc. He went to physical therapy, but it made the pain worse. Imaging was ordered, after which the surgeon said that the X-ray and MRI show advanced arthritis and he would need a complete shoulder replacement.
Unfortunately the surgeon will not do the surgery unless Phil's cardiologist says his heart is strong enough to withstand the surgery.
In August of this year Phil had his annual echo cardiogram and it showed that his heart function was 10 points worse than the previous years echo. His cardiologist performed a heart procedure in November 2022 in hopes of improving his heart function.
We are hoping to raise funds to pay for the unexpected medical bills and the cost of stem cell treatments to improve Phil's heart function. As well as his upcoming shoulder replacement surgery.
Every dollar helps.
Thank you all and God bless.
