Help Phil with Recovery Expenses
My best buddy Phil Edelstein needs help. On July 25, he started experiencing chest pains so severe, he drove himself to the emergency room at 4 am even though he could barely drive. Turns out, Phil had a serious heart attack, and to complicate matters, to his shock, he also learned that he had developed Type 2 diabetes. Heart failure is unfortunately one of the most common and deadly complications of diabetes, especially for people with type 2 who are two to four times more likely to develop heart failure than people without diabetes. Having diabetes increases a person's risk for repeat hospitalizations for heart failure. Scary stuff.
Phil was in the long, drawn-out process of trying to figure out why his insurance unexpectedly cancelled and still had not solved this problem when this emergency happened. Unfortunately, it costs Phil $450 for just one of his required life-saving medications, but he has many medications he has to take now, in addition to enormous hospital bills.
The good news is that he’s alive and recovering and planning to continue being the amazing photographer and person that he is! He has always been there for me, whether it’s doing creative projects with me or just being a support through my own heart attacks. He is working with a counselor on health insurance solutions going forward. In the meantime, he still seriously needs help.
