For those who don’t know me, I’m Phil Eisenstein. I am looking for some kind of help/assistance. I developed an infection that led to gangrene, which in turn led to sepsis and ultimately partial right foot amputation. To say the last 9 months have been a challenge is an understatement. Social Security Disability had initially refused me, and now it’s in “reconsideration” mode, which can take up to a year before some kind of resolution. State disability only allows up to a year for collecting 60% of what your gross pay was. All of these factors have contributed to a financial catastrophe.
As of 12-12, I was also diagnosed with moderately severe predominant axonal sensorimotor polyneuropathy of both upper and lower extremities, which in “normal” terms is a serious nerve disorder where nerve fibers (axons) are damaged, causing significant problems with both movement (motor) and feeling (sensory), often starting in the hands and feet, leading to weakness, numbness, pain, and balance issues.
Needless to say, I’m a mess! With my pride, it becomes difficult to ask for assistance, especially considering I’m sure I’m not the only one in financial straits, but it’s now come to the point where I have no pride or choice anymore. Thanks for taking the time to read my recent story. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
