Help Phil on his Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Phillip was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 6 years old. While some years his disease laid dormant, it has also caused many issues and complications over the years. In 2010 Phillip had two pulmonary embolisms causing him to have an IVC filter placed and a two month hospital stay.  This year, Phillip has battled with his Crohn’s disease to the point of being hospitalized twice.

In December of 2019, Phillip had a severe Crohn’s flair that put him in the hospital for two weeks. Because his disease was not being managed he had developed pyoderma gangrenosum on his right foot. He had two surgeries before being placed on steroids and given a Crohn’s specialist to follow up with. Because of the surgeries Phil was out of work until mid February without paid leave. Phil was actively seeing his Crohn’s specialist and remission for his disease seemed like a possibility with the right medication. Phil’s foot healed and he eventually was able to go back to work.

Fast forward to July. The original medicine that was being used to control Phil’s disease was not working. With plans to move to a new medication Phil was suddenly feeling pain in his ankle and foot. An ultrasound revealed nothing major. On July 12th Phil went into the emergency room because the bottom of a toe was purple and bruised looking. What we thought was pyoderma gangrenosum ended up being much worse. The ICV filter from 2010 was puncturing his aorta and sending blood clots down his left leg. Still in the hospital today, Phil has undergone 6 surgeries attempting to remove blood clots and amputating his toes which became necrotic after the loss of blood flow. As it stands Phil will have his left leg amputated on Monday making it his 7th procedure and the most severe outcome. Phil has been in the hospital since he was admitted July 12th. The team he is working with is doing everything they can to manage his Crohn’s and blood clots. Once he is discharged he will have to go to a rehab facility before coming home.

If you know Phil personally you know he is such a kind, funny, caring person. No one deserves to go through this, especially Phil as he has overcome many other challenges in his life. If you are unable to donate please post some kind words that we can share with Phil. This go fund me is set up to help with medical bills, a rehab facility, a prosthetic, and a loss of income of the weeks and months Phil will be out of work.
