Mel and Phil recently celebrated 10 years together. They are besotted by their 2.5-year-old son, Asher, and two dogs; Luna and Sonny. They are a hard-working and fiercely independent couple who are deeply committed to each other and supporting their family. The couple have always worked incredibly hard and never ask for anything. They are extremely generous with their time and money, always helping out any family and friends in need.
Since Asher was born, Phil has been working long hours away from his family to provide for them and give Mel the opportunity to stay home with Asher during his early years. Unfortunately, Phil’s capacity to work over the past 10 months has been limited by health issues which has led to many hospital admissions and seen him quite unwell. Phil has bravely pushed through and returned to working long hours away from home as often as he can, but the periods of not working combined with medical costs has already had a financial impact.
Devastatingly, last week Phil was diagnosed with liver cancer with a portal vein tumor that has also spread to his stomach. As the cancer has spread, Phis is unfortunately not a candidate for radiation, chemotherapy or surgery. Phil has been told the cancer is incurable and has been offered only life prolonging treatments in Australia. Phil and his family are currently searching for answers, international treatment options and alternative treatments to give the family as much time together as possible. Phil has already survived cancer during his childhood and while this cancer is aggressive, Phil is a fighter and strong with an amazing wife supporting him.
We want to reduce the financial stress for the family, so they can focus on Phil’s treatment and spend time together as a family. We also want to provide Phil and Mel with the financial means to have access to best treatments that might be available outside of Australia to fight this horrible disease!
