Phiddads Funeral

Hello Everyone.

For those who know Eric Otim, Phiddad Faith Otim is his lovely wife.

Phiddad is battling a massive, life-threatening and very aggressive brain tumour, known as Glioblastoma (GBM) stage 4 which is a fast-growing cancer in the brain.  The GBM has now spread to her spine and a part from a serious decline in her function she has also been given a very short life expectancy prognosis. Phiddad is a 32years old and a young mother of four beautiful girls of Ages (14, 12, 7, and 1) years old.

Last year while in Sydney for a holiday, she just woke up with a severe headache and vomiting, she presented herself at the Emergency dept. Blacktown hospital where a CT scan was done and later was referred to West Mead hospital for an MRI a scan and biopsy and that is where she was diagnosed with Brain cancer (GBM brain cancer)

Everything changed for Phiddad and her family when an MRI scan revealed that she had stage 4 brain tumour. Immediately, Phiddad was hospitalised for surgery. Unfortunately it was later realised that since the tumour is already stage 4 the surgery would be a risky option that could paralyse her for life, So the doctors decided to drain the water out of her brain before the start of Chemo and radiotherapy treatments

In January, 2018 she went for her first operation to drain the excess water from her brain The surgeries were followed by 5 weeks of combined radiotherapy and chemo treatments. Unfortunately, the Chemo reacted bad with Phiddad and had to be stopped so she continued with weekly radiotherapy.

In July, 2018 Phiddad got a stroke which affected her mobility and speech. Her right hand and leg lost functionality and now has to use a wheelchair. As a result, she now needs more Physio, OT for upper limb, hydrotherapy, speech therapy and counselling to bring more recovery as she has started showing tiny improvement since the stroke.

Support for costs such as mobility aids, physio, OT for upper limb, hydrotherapy, speech therapy and counselling and basic living costs, would mean the world to Phiddad and her family in this difficult time as her husband has stopped working to take care of Phiddad who needs 24-hour care at the moment. Please consider a donation of any size to help Phiddad fight the toughest battle in life.

While Phiddad focuses her energies on getting better, we've stepped in and created her campaign to help bring Phiddad some relief from the financial pressures she's facing from her medical condition.

Phiddad has worked as professional nurse at Amana Living – Peter Arney in Saltwater point. Her dream has always been to be a doctor and help others and she was ready to embark on this journey after her maternity leave, but the brain tumour got in her way.

I’ve heard Phiddad say, more than once,

“I want to get better, I want to be a doctor, and
I want to be an inspiration to people and help them.”

Please help give Phiddad a second chance in life so she can be there for her 4 girls and pursue her dream and continue to serve. Your kindness and generosity will contribute to the success of an empathetic, compassionate, wise wife, mum, sister and friend who knows firsthand what it’s like to be a patient needing life-saving treatment.

Those of you who know her knows she’s a very inspiration and generous lady who has helped many people both family and none family members – and in my opinion so perfectly sums up Phiddad’s philosophy and how she leads her life,

Thank you in advance for helping Phiddad.  Please share her story with others who may be moved to help.

On behalf of Phiddad and her family, we thank you from the bottom of our heart.

Please check the 'updates' page info on her progress.
