Phantom is a four-year-old German Shepherd × Malinois and a trained PTSD service dog for her owner, Steve — U.S. Army 25th Infantry combat veteran.
On the evening of February 6, Phantom was severely injured in a sudden accident. Her leg became caught on a fence — resulting in an open fracture at the tarsometatarsal joint with bone protruding from the skin, serious infection risk, and a real possibility of amputation.
The surgery has been completed. Phantom made it through, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who donated, shared, and supported us in those first critical days.
But this is far from over.
Phantom is now in the early weeks of an 8 to 12-week recovery. That means weekly veterinary checkups, strict activity limits, daily medication, cast care, and hands-on help for every basic need — she cannot eat, drink or use the bathroom without Steve's assistance. Physical therapy begins in six to eight weeks. Until she is cleared to return to work, Steve provides around-the-clock care.
And here's what that means practically: Phantom cannot go to job sites. Steve runs Arizona Off Grid Solutions, a veteran-owned off-grid solar company where Phantom is present for every sales call, every client meeting, and every field visit.
The funds raised here go toward Phantom's ongoing veterinary care, follow-up visits, physical therapy, and medications.
If you've already donated — thank you. You helped save her life.
If you haven't yet, or if you can share this — please do. The surgery is done. The hard part is still happening. We need your help to get through it. Thank you.
