Peyton is a freshman at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She is a 2-sport adaptive athlete in wheelchair basketball and para track and field. Peyton has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. She needs help with many daily living skills to get through the day, including personal care, getting to classes, carrying items, help in dining halls, help with chores in the dorm, help at practices and tournaments, etc.
Peyton is in need of a personal care assistant (PCA) throughout the day. Each day ranges from 6-8 hours, averaging around 38 hours per week. Peyton was generous granted assistance from a non-for-profit her 1st semester, but now needs her own funding.
Peyton is still in the waiting process to get approved for funding with Michigan Medicaid. The process is long and stressful; she also has a lawyer helping with this process. However, as of now, 12/27/2024, there are still no updates on the process as it could take months.
Peyton has a small cushion, but that will only help cover 2 to 3 weeks. Peyton has worked so hard both academically and athletically to be able to attend the University of Michigan.
Money raised will go towards PCAs until funding is provided. Any leftover will help with PCAs for overnight/weekends at tournaments.
