Help Peyton Continue Horseback Riding
Donation protected
My name is Jenée and I'm helping my ten-year-old friend Peyton raise money to support her participation in the very expensive sport that she has discovered she really loves. Some of you may remember her from when she met her goal of selling 5,000 boxes of cookies last year (and sent thank-you notes to everyone who bought from her!)
Since she's always worked so hard to be a top fundraiser for her school and Girl Scouts, I suggested that she use some of her efforts to make sure she can continue to do what she's so passionate about: equestrian competitions.
Here's what she said in a letter to friends and family:
Hi, my name is Peyton and I am in the 5th Grade. I live in Alabama. I am creating a fundraiser for my journey as an equestrian. I would love it if you supported me through this time.
I started riding in the summer of 2018. I attended a summer camp, and I fell in love with horseback riding. After camp, I began taking weekly lessons. I am now in my fourth year of riding and started competing last year. One of my greatest achievements so far is me and Levi (my horse) getting first and second place in two events at a show. But, horseback riding also has challenges. A challenge that I recently overcame was falling off of Levi the day before a big competition, hitting a fence and hurting my tailbone. Even though I was still in pain and had a huge scratch across my back from my fall, the very next day I got back on Levi and competed in my competition that weekend. It means a lot to me to be able to ride horses, and I am very passionate about it. I don’t see a lot of young black girls like me riding horses. It is important to me to encourage other young black girls like me to persevere in the sport and increase our representation.
I love horseback riding, and I love my horse Levi very much. I am very grateful to be able to lease a horse. But, this is a very expensive sport, because you have to pay for lessons, supplies, safety equipment and boarding fees. My goal is to raise $10,000 to support my goals this year. This money will provide money to continue to lease Levi, attend competitions, and it would provide necessary supplies.
It would make a big difference if you supported me in any amount, because I would be able to use that $10K to help pay for our lease on Levi and to pay for supplies for me and him. If I don’t raise any money, I will have to stop taking lessons and leasing Levi this year.
Any donation is appreciated.
If you donate please send your address to my mom through my IG @peytonpersists so I can send you a thank-you card.
Thank you so much.
