Sweet Petunia is a true rescue cat. In January, I noticed a small kitten who looked scared and hungry. She would make eye contact with me, and I saw her several times. One day, I left the door open and left out some food for her. She came into our house and has been with us ever since. She is the sweetest cat and has been my buddy as I work from home and am often lonely. She has been a joy.

Petunia had a side wound when we found her. We took her to Del Rio Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital. She had it drained, and black pus came out. It appeared to heal, but resurfaced on 3/15. The vet attempted surgery to remove it on 3/25. The vet found that the black pus is under her rib cage and so she needs a cat scan to diagnose its location and severity and further surgery to remove it.

Petunia is very affectionate which is just amazing given how tough her life was on the streets. She sits with me while I study engineering, and has comforted me during times when my spouse is gone due to his service in the Air Force. She and I have developed a very special bond because I have been able to help her out of a terrible situation. She has been a joy and a comfort to me.

We have spent $2,000 on her treatment so far, which was our entire savings. I am about to lose my source of income due to an Air Force move, and I am trying to finish paying for my college degree. It would be devastating to lose her but the financial stress is adding up.
