Petey Pablo Vet Costs
Donation protected
Unfortunately, Petey made a turn for the worse, and we had to make the impossible decision to let him go peacefully and comfortably at 3AM, Thursday, August 17. We were by his side and with him until he passed over the rainbow bridge. We are going to miss him immensely. ❤️
For those who do not know, my name is Amber. My husband, Josh, and I are the owners of our beautiful Dalmatian, Petey Pablo. He just turned 4 on July 5th, 2023. He is our sweet, goofy boy who is always full of life and ready to play.
Petey is now fighting for his life, and time is ticking. He has a massive infection from a foreign body in his lung, and now he needs a surgery to remove it, and clear the infection. The infection is presented in fluids surrounding his heart and lungs.
Petey first was taken to the emergency vet by my amazing friend, Bree Foster, on Tuesday, August 15, while Josh and I were across the country visiting family. Her, and my coworkers, and their quick thinking and jumping to action, has given him a fighting chance. Petey originally came in presenting with signs of heat exhaustion and dehydration, but his pain signals did not add up. Further testing showed no abdominal blockages. Testing continued and we found the foreign body, and were able to test the fluid surrounding his heart and lungs, and found the infection. He has drainage tubes in his chest, and is fighting so hard.
Josh and I are distraught, stressed, and scared. The vets say there was no warning to any of this happening, and we know he is in the best hands. While odds are 25-50% survival of this surgery, we know our good boy will fight like hell and pull through. He is still in critical care under 24/7 observation, but we are hopeful and encouraged by his slightly improving signs he has been giving us with slowly raising glucose levels, and making it out of the minor surgery for his drains.
After his surgery, he will still have another 4-5+ days to stay in the hospital for further monitoring and to ensure his body recovers from the infection. He has a long road ahead of him.
Josh and I have flown back home to be with him, and we visited him first thing when we got back from the airport. He was very much out of it, but opened his eyes briefly when we sat with him and told him how much we love him and how strong he is.
Please help us continue to make sure Petey will make it through this, anything helps! And if you cannot help and donate, a share will do just as well!
Thank you for reading this,
With love, Amber, Josh, Marley, Snicket, Friday, and Petey Pablo ❤️
