Help Pete Schurrs Recovery!

On December 19th our good friend and co-worker Peter Schurr stepped out from his vehicle when he felt a sudden onset of pain to his right leg.  Pete, being the strong person he is, felt something was wrong but that it could wait to be seen by his physician, but when Pete woke in the morning he just knew something wasn't right. The pain had gotten worse and he had noticed a change to the colour of his foot.  When Pete arrived at the hospital the physicians discovered that he has sustained a major fracture to his right lower leg and that surgery was needed immediately. Sadly, after 4 unsuccessful attempts to repair the injury through surgery, Pete received the news that he would need a fifth surgery to have his leg amputated.  On December 26th, after spending his Christmas in hospital, Pete had a below-the-knee amputation to his right leg.  Pete is now on a long, stressful and emotional road to recovery.  
As a Paramedic of over 20 years, Peter Schurr has given his life to helping others in their time of sickness and/or injury. Giving long hours coming to the aid of those who are injured and/or sick - Pete is now the one who needs our help. Peter Schurr's recovery is going to incur many costs (many NOT covered by extended medical coverage), not to mention the day to day costs of living with his permanent changes, and time away from work in any possible capacity. Peter is a proud father of 5 - and is currently living in Nanaimo, working out of Station 130 (Parksville). Prior to moving to the Island, Peter worked out of the lower mainland while living in Surrey. Pete Schurr has worked from top to bottom of British Columbia and has touched the hearts of every single one of his patients and co-workers.
Let's help Peter Schurr with his recovery (including the extensive physiotherapy, counselling, prosthetics, and more...) by raising funds and help a man who has committed his life to helping others.
