Help Peter Recover from Hit-and-Run Accident
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Peter. I’m starting this fundraiser to ask for help after being hit by a car on my way to work.
.
Sunday night around 6:00pm, November 18th, I was riding my bike along the sidewalk when a driver. Who was stopped when I looked at them before crossing? Sped across 2 lanes of traffic and hit me. They stopped briefly but then turned off all of their lights and drove away, leaving me injured in the street. A few kind strangers helped me gather my things and stayed with me until the ambulance arrived—and I’m incredibly grateful to them.
I ended up with what doctors call a “floating elbow”—a ”pretty painful injury involving all three broken bones in my left arm. I’ve been dealing with the physical pain, multiple appointments, and the stress of being out of work while recovering. To make matters worse, after a few weeks the doctor had found the titanium implant had failed (snapped in half), and I underwent the same surgery again. It’s also been a lot emotionally, trying to process what happened and realizing I’m in over my head with all of this.
About me: I am on the autism spectrum and was adopted, and I have always been someone who strives to show up and do my best. This situation has been tough, not just for me, but for my family too. As well as my friends. I don't like asking for help. Because I dislike burdening others. But the truth is. I'm completely overwhelmed. With work, stress, bills, rent, and utilities, there is so much I'm going through and dealing with. And I thought I could handle it. But it's growing more and more out of control. I should be thriving. Instead I'm being choked out by the weeds of life. I can't bloom like this. I'm working full time to stay afloat. And I'm even in college trying for a degree in cybersecurity. I'm floating at best and floundering at worst.
I’m asking for help to cover medical expenses and recovery-related costs. Including medical bills, rent, and utilities. Not to mention I've lost about 4k from my job because they refused to let me work with my injury. Until I got an accommodation. I work at Amazon. Any amount helps—and if you’re not able to donate, even sharing this means a lot.
Up As of now, the driver still hasn’t come forward. This means that all bills and insurance costs are my responsibility. There is no criminal to sue or a way to get reimbursed. So I'm reaching out my unbroken arm and hand to all of you out there. Please help. If anyone has any information, please contact local authorities.
Thanks so much for reading and for any support. – Peter
