Help Peter Pan Take Flight!

We are a group of artists and art educators who are collaborating with La Crosse Dance Centre to produce an original dance work that will premiere this spring in La Crosse, WI.  The piece will be a dance version of J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan."  Our production is entitled:  "Peter Pan:  Wendy in Neverland."  Our retelling explores the story from Wendy's perspective.  We are all Wendy Darling, charting our path through life toward an impartial balance between our impulse, discipline, strength, love, humility, and knowledge.  Our story examines this journey of learning and discovery as we all endeavor to utilize every facet of our uniqueness to live our experience to the fullest.  "You learn your choice is your power."

We are composing music and writing lyrics for this production.  Ian Kane, our composer and lyricist, will be flying in from Los Angeles to perform live with La Crosse Dance Centre's Dance Artists.  Choreography is by Cameron Meilicke, with Direction by Chelsea McManimon-Moe.  Bryce Turgeon will be flying in from New York City to design costumes for the show.

Supporting this project will help us cover expenses for the production of the show.  Expenses include:

-Theater rental
-Costume materials and production
-Transportation/Compensation for the Creative Team
-Piano rental
-Props
-Promotional materials
-Numerous other expenses associated with producing this type of performance

Our purpose for creating this show is to give young dance artists at La Crosse Dance Centre an opportunity to experience growth through the creation of a brand new work.  Collaborating is a skill citizens of our world need to practice.  Being a part of a devised show of this nature helps young people learn about the benefits of collaboration as well as how to work through the moments of struggle.  The show features dancers age 9 through 18.  Any donation you make, regardless of the size will be used to support the show, and therefore, their experience.

La Crosse Dance Centre's mission is to promote connection and community by fostering creativity and collaboration.  LDC also strives to make dance education an opportunity for all people, regardless of financial situation.

We can begin using the funds as soon as possible.  Anything you can give will be appreciated greatly by the creative team, as well as the cast of dancers.  You would be helping us make this vision come to fruition, and helping us continue to bring these unique dance experiences to dancers and audiences alike.
