Help Peter Luck and Family on the Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi my name is Jane Cramer and I’m starting this on behalf of the Luck family, specifically Peter Luck who was in a horrible accident Friday. The family is going to need any help they can get with medical bills, since Peter has a long journey before him. Here’s a message from Peter’s daughter Morgan, with some more information about Peter’s condition:
I’m reaching out today in hopes of finding support and spreading the word about something heartbreaking that happened to my dad this past Friday.

My dad was involved in a devastating accident on I-80 in the Poconos when a cast steel yoke (part of a hitch from a commercial vehicle, a large truck) broke off and struck his car head-on. His white mid-sized Lexus stopped in traffic after it happened. The impact was so severe it destroyed his Apple Watch, which is what ultimately alerted 911.

A state trooper luckily drove by and immediately went active duty on the scene, and my dad was airlifted to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He is currently in the ICU.

His injuries are life-changing:
• He has permanently lost vision in his left eye.
• His left arm, hand, and fingers were shattered and have already required major surgery (with more to come).
• The entire left side of his face was crushed and will require major reconstructive surgery.
• His career and livelihood will never be the same. He ran his own small business, Pocono Day Tripper, a touring company he spent 10 years building, but because of his injuries, he will no longer be able to drive his own buses and trolleys.

Right now, there are NO LEADS on the commercial vehicle responsible. We don’t know if the driver even realized a part of their truck broke off, but the consequences have been devastating for my dad and my family.

I’m asking this community for help:
Please just spread my dad’s story out there, my dad has always been my advocate and now I need to be his.
If anyone has connections, resources, or even advice on how to bring more attention to this, it would mean the world to us.
And if anyone happened to be traveling through I-80, any detail, dash cam, or memory of a truck with missing parts could be a lead.

My dad is fighting every day in the ICU, he’s always given back to the community living in the Poconos for 30 years, I’m reaching out here in hope that together we can find the person responsible or at least push this story forward.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any love, prayers, shares, or help you can give.

Anything anyone can donate will significantly help ease the financial burden my family is about to experience
❤️

****UPDATE****
Update on Peter’s Recovery

We are so grateful for the outpouring of support, prayers, and donations — it truly means the world to our family. Peter still needs many thoughts and prayers as his healing journey is expected to take at least 18 months, and even then, much is still to be determined.

Peter sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) with a bilateral brain bleed, but he is showing daily improvement and continues to amaze us with his strength. Right now, we are working with his care team to find the right medication management to help him reach a more comfortable state and prepare him to handle 3 hours of therapy each day. Once stable, he will be transferred to an inpatient acute rehab facility to continue intensive recovery.

As for his injuries, Peter’s left eye remains intact and is healing slowly, though doctors have confirmed he will not regain vision in it. His arm wound has not yet closed and is being treated with a wound vac. He will need additional procedures in the future, including a skin graft for his arm and possibly further surgeries to support his eye’s healing process.

This journey is long and difficult, but Peter’s spirit is nothing short of miraculous. He surprises us every single day with his progress, determination, and will to fight.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you again for keeping Peter and our family in your thoughts. Your support whether through donations, sharing his story, or sending prayers is helping us push forward on this road to recovery.
