Please Help Peter Brightbill Get His Teeth Fixed (So He Doesn't Lose More of Them!)
Peter needs some financial help so he can get dentures or, if we raise enough money, dentures & 2 implants. He has already used the maximum coverage of $1,000 this year his dental insurance will provide for the work. He has lost ten, over 1/3 of his teeth.
I am Amy, Peter’s ex-wife and friend.
The tooth loss is due to the fact that a medication Peter had to take for years was, unbeknownst to him, steadily eroding his teeth. He has lost molars, premolars and front teeth. While the loss of front teeth is more embarrassing, the loss of back teeth is more dangerous because without them and the support they provide to his mouth, he's been putting more stress on his front teeth and that is why they have broken. So far, Peter has lost teeth mostly in the back (molars and premolars), but also 3 in the front. Without the custom dentures his dentist (formerly a supervising dentist at NYU's College of Dentistry and a prosthodontist) is creating, the doctor says he will lose even more front teeth as they are doing all the work normally done by the grinding teeth in back, which front teeth are not made for.
In an ideal world where finances were not a problem or we believed we could raise this amount, Peter would get an implant for every missing tooth (or bridges for 2-3 together). In New York this would cost $45,000 - $60,000.
However, his dentist has suggested 2 less expensive alternatives, which is what we’re seeking your support for:
1. custom dentures and further extractions of broken front teeth which will cost $10,195.
However, a denture in the front will not be as stable as replacing two of the lost front teeth with implants.
2. This will cost an additional $5,500 per tooth or an additional $11,000 for a total of $21,195.
Some of the work has already been done and Peter has been paying small amounts as he is able, most recently $1,000.
We deeply appreciate any amount you can give. I will update you on Peter’s progress as he is able to afford the work described above.
Thanks so much.
