On 12th January Peter Thompson, our good friend and Stage Manager, suffered a suspected stroke/TIA.
This has resulted in a loss of speech along with left sided weakness which has had a massive impact not only on Peter but also his family and friends.
Since then Peter has been diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder or FND. Whereas a stroke is an issue with the 'hardware' of the brain, FND is an issue with the 'software' of the brain but still causes issues like limb weakness, speech and communication difficulties, movement disorders etc.
After seeing a GP Peter has been told that there is 47 week wait to see the consultant neurologist together with long waiting lists for NHS Speech and Language Therapy and physiotherapy.
We just feel helpless and heartbroken at the extra strain this is bringing to the family, so with Peter & Emma's blessing we have set up this page to try and raise some money to pay for private speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and any equipment that Peter may need in the short/long term to help with his rehabilitation.
The money will be accessible only by Peter & Emma to help fund these treatment/equipment costs - as an example speech and language therapy is around £100 a session.
Peter has given so much time to so many in the local AMDRAM scene so now it is our chance to give something back to Peter and his family - not only that we need him back to normal as we're useless as a stage crew without him.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We all know times are tough but every penny really will help.
