Dear Friends,

I’m reaching out on behalf of our dearest friend Peter, one of our fiercest activist and a devoted federal CDC employee. Over the past ten months, Peter has endured challenges that none of us should ever have to face in this "great" country of ours—yet somehow, they’ve become the new norm. From the early CDC layoffs that plagued the first months of this incompetent administration to the trauma and chaos following the August 8th CDC shootings, Peter has stood strong through it all, always advocating for others and remaining a steadfast voice of resistance and perseverance.

But now—a government shutdown, 27 days and counting—Peter continues to face uncertainty. As much as he’s been a beacon of resilience for others, he now needs our help.

Because of the ongoing shutdown, Peter has missed two paychecks. Despite his best efforts to manage food and essential bills, he now faces possible eviction if his rent isn’t paid by THIS November 1st. He’s been proactive and transparent with his leasing office, requesting an extension until his next federal paycheck arrives, but as of today, those arrangements remain uncertain.

As his friends, family, and community, we have a chance to help lift some of this burden from him. I’ve set up a GoFundMe to raise $2,300, which will cover his immediate rent needs. Every contribution—no matter the amount—will make a meaningful difference in ensuring Peter can keep up the fight.

Peter has spent his career during the day protecting our nation’s health and safety, and his nights often advocating for people whose lives and experiences differ from his own. His compassion and courage inspire me deeply, which is why I’m reaching out to you today.
