“One day I won’t be able to keep up with you!” 

That’s what my dad said to me over 20 years ago as I pedaled furiously to keep up with him during one of his marathon training runs in Fargo, North Dakota.

Now, in the summer of 2025, his words have come true in the most heartbreaking way. In recent weeks, my father—frail, breathless, and clinging to life—has struggled to keep up as I walked beside him through the dim hallway of a Bangkok hotel, carrying his portable oxygen concentrator humming at full blast.

Peter Moynihan is a devoted and loving father, husband, and lifelong runner who’s now in a desperate battle with late-stage Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), a progressive and incurable lung disease that has stolen his stamina, his independence, and now threatens his life.

After years of trying every treatment available in the U.S., we made the difficult decision to make the arduous journey to Bangkok, Thailand to receive stem cell infusions for his IPF that were not accessible in the U.S.

We anticipated expenses for the procedures, breathing devices, accommodations, meals, and transportation to and from the clinic. What we didn’t expect was the discovery of serious GI issues that explained my dad’s alarming and dangerous weight loss. That, combined with an acute exacerbation of IPF, has put my dad in the ICU, where he’s fighting for survival after being intubated this week.

We've been in Bangkok since June 6th and are doing everything humanly possible to bring my dad back home alive. My mom, Anne—his wife—was unable to make the trip due to financial and health reasons. Your donations—no matter the size— will help Peter breathe!
