Many of you may or may not know my father, Pete Sofiyea, and you all may not have known about his various health issues over the last 5 years. His health has worsened over the course of the last two weeks, and he is now in multiple organ failure.

Our family is now at the point where we have a decision to make. The doctors are saying that my father either needs to go through a procedure in which he will need both a tracheotomy and a G tube inserted into his body to prolong what little life my father has left, or they can take his ventilation system off and let him pass peacefully on his own terms. My father’s condition is so severe that they are not even sure that he will survive that procedure.

In any case, we are currently fundraising in order to secure enough money to send him home to Nigeria and have a proper burial/funeral there as he would have wanted. The number we are looking at is currently around $30,000 but may change depending on the actual estimate we get.

As the sole caregiver of my father, these decisions fall mainly on me, so your support means everything.
