Help Pete Recover After Cardiac Arrest
Donation protected
On Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, my brother Peter Gelber suffered sudden cardiac arrest while performing with his band Nine Deeez Nite at Martell’s Tiki Bar. Thanks to the quick action of a compassionate bystander who performed life-saving CPR, and multiple administrations of an automated external defibrillator, Pete received immediate aid. Martell’s security, the Point Pleasant Beach police and EMS responded admirably in their efforts to save his life.
Upon arrival at the local hospital, Pete was intubated and placed in a medically induced coma. The next day, he was successfully extubated and began breathing independently with some assistance. He was then airlifted to Jersey Shore and admitted to the Cardiac ICU, where he underwent a procedure to implant a defibrillator. Throughout his ordeal, Pete received exceptional care from the dedicated doctors and nurses and was told he made a remarkable recovery.
After extensive testing, doctors diagnosed Pete with ARVC, a rare genetic disease that, if undetected, can lead to sudden death in otherwise healthy individuals. With the implantation of a defibrillator and prescribed medication, doctors are optimistic about Pete's ability to lead a normal life moving forward.
During his recovery, Pete will need to take several weeks off from performing with his band to focus on recuperation. We humbly ask for your support in alleviating the financial strain caused by medical bills and household expenses while assisting his wife Kristin as she returns to work to provide for their two young sons, Kaiden and Brandon.
Your contributions and kindness are deeply appreciated. Whether you can provide financial support or share this page on social media, your positive thoughts, prayers, and love mean the world to us during this challenging time.
