My name is Pete, and my wife and I have been married for 46 years. For the past 25 years, we’ve called our house on the water in Lakeport, California, our home. In 2017, my life changed forever after an outpatient surgery left me paralyzed. My wife, who has always been my rock, suffered a stroke while caring for me. We went from being self-sufficient and independent to facing challenges we never could have imagined.

Over the years, we’ve done everything we can to stay afloat. We’ve spent our savings, and every day is a struggle to make ends meet. I am now bedridden, and my wife and I rely on each other more than ever. The thought of having to leave our home, or worse, being separated and placed in different care facilities, is heartbreaking. Our greatest wish is to spend the rest of our days together in the place we love.
