My name is Dillinger, and I have known Pete and Debbie Fiddler for the past 15 years. I met Pete while working for RBS Seafood, and we became fast friends. He taught me how to drive truck, and the two of us would drive up and down the island, and in Vancouver to make deliveries. Every chance we got we would get together for drinks, laughs, to watch dumb movies, and just general shenanigans. I will cherish those times for the rest of my life.

I am raising these funds to help my friends who have done so much for me. I consider Pete and Debbie my family and want to do whatever I can to support them through these times.

For the past 3 years Pete has been fighting throat cancer. He has done multiple treatments including radiation and surgery, but it kept coming back. Last fall he underwent a total laryngectomy. We were all very hopeful that this life altering procedure would be the answer, but this past summer Pete received the news that the cancer was back and has spread. Pete received more radiation treatment in September and was set to start chemo in October. Initially he was told that with chemo he could expect to live another year.

Everything changed this week when Pete and Debbie received the devastating news that his cancer has grown and spread more rapidly than expected and there is no further treatment to be done. They are unsure if he has days or weeks left.

The financial burden of the past few years has been compounding. Pete had to take time off work with each treatment and procedure, and was unable to work as much as he did previously when he did go back. Since the laryngectomy last fall, he didn’t get the chance to be back to work on any sort of regular basis before the cancer returned. Now Debbie is taking time off work to care for Pete.

We don’t want finances to be weighing on either of their minds in this already stressful time.
