On January 16, Perry suffered a sudden, severe stroke. He was rushed to HCMC, where doctors discovered tears in two arteries in his neck that caused a major blockage. What followed has been every family’s nightmare. Perry now has no feeling on the left side of his body, and his left side is largely paralyzed. He has some control of the right side of his body, but as a lefty, he needs to learn how to do things like feed himself and brush his teeth with his right hand. He is also working hard to keep his head, eyes, and neck movements focused forward. Thankfully, Perry understands what’s happening, but his body isn’t responding the way it should. It’s heartbreaking to witness someone so strong face such a difficult challenge.
The next six weeks are critical for Perry. He has begun intense daily rehabilitation, but the road ahead will be long and uncertain. There will be mounting medical bills, extensive rehab costs, home modifications, and lost income during his recovery. The support of friends, family, and the community will make a world of difference as Perry and his loved ones navigate this journey.
If you know Perry, you know his strength and determination. Now he needs ours. We are coming together to help cover medical expenses, rehabilitation, and to support his family during this fight. If you can give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can’t, please pray and share Perry’s story. This is the beginning of a long battle, and we want to stand with him every step of the way.
