Help Perla Care for Chris & Their Two Little Ones After a Devastating Stroke
Hi everyone,
I’m Jeremy, Perla’s brother-in-law, and I’m reaching out on behalf of one of the kindest families I know. Let me tell you about Chris, my sister-in-law’s husband, he is only 44 years old and is a devoted husband and father of two. He was the main breadwinner of the family but due to his diabetes causing further unexpected health challenges, he was unable to keep working. Unfortunately during the past few years his health kept declining. He was in the hospital prior to this time around for months because of unexpected health complications, which led to most of his toes from his right foot to be amputated. Chris has been on the kidney transfer list for 9 years with little progress on the list. Just being on the list for so long and doing dialysis 3 times a week, has taken a toll on his body. We are seeking help at this time to help his family with the overwhelming medical bills and unforeseen expenses.
Recent Details of this Hospital Stay (2025):
Chris was omitted to the hospital on May 30th of 2025 because he caught a severe case of pneumonia, he fought hard to recover from it and on Thursday night (June 19th, 2025) he was released from the hospital and transferred to a rehabilitation center to regain his strength and ability to breath properly.
Perla and the rest of the family began to celebrate because we were all hopeful for Chris to get better and to regain his strength to walk and do regular day to day activities. We were hopeful that he would soon be reunited with both of his kids, hopeful to see Chris up and about, hopeful for the family to be whole again.
Unfortunately, on Friday morning (June 20th, 2025, not even 24 hours later), at the rehab center Chris suffered a massive stroke that caused bleeding and swelling in his brain. He was rushed into surgery to release the pressure from his skull. He remains in the Neuro ICU, breathing tube in place, doctors uncertain how much function he’ll regain.
Perla currently spends every waking hour at the hospital or caring for their two young children, Leah (10) and Elias (6), praying for a miracle. Leah and Elias ask daily for their dad and cry to Perla about how much they miss their dad and being at their home all together. The emotional weight and medical expenses are overwhelming for the whole family.

Why We’re Asking for Help
Medical Expenses Estimated:
Deductibles & co-pays already due (kidney care + pneumonia + stroke): $18,000
Neuro-rehab, physical & speech therapy (3–6 mos): $24,000
Child care & school expenses while Perla is at the hospital: $6,000
Rent, utilities & groceries (6 mos): $12,000
Emergency buffer & potential final expenses: $10,000
Total goal: $70,000
If Chris defies the odds (and we pray he does), every dollar will go to his long-term rehab and the children’s stability. If the unthinkable happens, remaining funds will cover funeral costs and help Perla keep a roof over their heads while she rebuilds.
