Hi, my name is Juliana, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
My son, my literal son since I was in 2nd grade, has suddenly gotten super sick over the past two days.
For the past few months, Percy has been extra hungry, we thought nothing of it until he began to lose weight. On 12/3 we scheduled him a vet appt to check on him & took him home waiting on results.
Within the same night, we noticed his breathing became labored (He has never experienced this before) & He looked super unwell. We rushed him to the ER that night, and they ran a work up that showed an enlarged heart, confirming a heart disease but unsure if it is failure. His blood glucose also showed diabetes, and his test from earlier in the day confirmed that.
Now, in order to treat the diabetes or even the heart issues the vet needed to run additional tests, and keep him overnight to do an echo. That alone would have cost 9,000, without the administration of any medicine & not including the ER exam fee.
We are now at a place where we had to no other option to take him home, and give him Lasix to help with the fluid in his lungs, but we are still not able to manage the diabetes because of lack of testing. But to be honest, He is not doing well at home. He has been peeing uncontrollably because of the lasix & diabetes. And He has had little to no energy.
On top of the ER visit, he stills needs to see a cardiologist for his heart to perform an echo which is minimum $1,000. We also need to perform tests for his diabetes & the medication that comes with it.
We have pet insurance, but they only cover so much.
There is hope if we are able to get help soon from a cardio doctor and medicine to manage his diabetes.
Little guy is only 11, & I know He has more in him.
Please share this if you can’t donate, anything will help. I just want to be able to give him an extra few years.
