We don’t like to upset people, especially not our followers, family and friends who support us.

So when we are faced with things that are challenging, we don’t always share it.

Or, we share it, but a muted, more palatable version.

But, it might be time for us to get real about a few things.

This is hard. Rescue work is SO hard.

It sucks the life out of you, it leaves you tired, burnt out, often feeling like you’re fighting a constant-uphill-losing-battle.

It takes up all of your time and emotional bandwidth. It makes you feel like you’re suffocating. Like you are never going to ACTUALLY make a difference.

Does this mean that we will stop? No, it doesn’t. Because if we don’t do what we do, we will feel worse.

We aren’t able to turn a blind eye to the suffering that is being in endured by thousands of cats that are just within our own local community.

Percy is 1 example of the pain and suffering rescuers see everyday. He was discarded, forgotten about and left to suffer.

Without intervention, Percy’s mouth would have continued to rot, his body would become severely emaciated, and he would have eventually starved to death. It’s only because we took him in that this isn’t happening. The ‘owners’ of Percy who seemingly gave up on him don’t have to face the consequences of the neglect he has endured. They aren’t the ones who had to stand there and hold him down so the vets can get a proper look into his mouth, and they aren’t the ones who have to restrain him so he can be sedated to get his bloods taken. They aren’t the ones who are trying to feed him all different types of food to try and find something that he enjoys so much that he can ignore the pain in his mouth.

He has severe Gingivitis stomatitis and needs to have ALL of his teeth extracted. 

He is FIV-positive. He was severely anaemic and riddled with fleas. His white blood cell count is dangerously high, likely from multiple infections and the relentless disease in his mouth. He was not desexed. He was not microchipped. He was not loved.

But now…he is loved. And we will go to the ends of the earth to show that to him and all of the little creatures that come into our care.

We can only do that with the help of you; our community.
