My name is Laura. I have a sweet dachshund boy named Pepperoni. He has had a good, healthy life so far. A couple of weeks ago, he started to yelp in pain. He didn't seem like himself, like the last 8 years of his happy life. I took him to our vet, and the vet told us he has signs of IVDD. We were told to have him rest and he started taking 3 pain meds. She said if he gets worse, he may need surgery. It has been 2 weeks and he has continuously gotten worse. He went from being in pain and sleeping a lot to wobbling around and having a hard time walking to not being able to use his back legs. He barely can use the bathroom today. It looks like he is paralyzed. If we wait too long to have surgery, the feeling in his legs may never come back! He is going to the neurologist specialist tomorrow. Because his condition is getting worse drastically, he will need lab work, MRI, and spinal surgery quickly. They quoted me a total of $9,000!!
Pepperoni came into our family's life when he was 6 weeks old. He would sleep on my neck and chest the first few months of his puppy life every night. I would call him my infant baby. As he grew, he spends every night making sure he is against a part of my body while we sleep. He is so loving and affectionate to me and everyone in our family. He protects us from harm. He enjoys chasing squirrels and bunnies. He loves to run with his other family member, Oreo (other fur baby). He was so happy and carefree. Suddenly everything turned for the worst 2 weeks ago. He is so sad and in pain. He drags his back legs. He cannot walk. He will need surgery.
Care credit and credit cards are not an option. The Wisconsin Veterinary Neurology and Surgical Center does not accept payment plans.
We are asking for your help. We will be grateful for any help we can get.
This came on so sudden. Pepperoni needs your help.
