For those who know us and those who don't, we are Peppermint and Dusty. We have been broadcasters on Chaturbate since Jan. 2016. Our adult work is based on deep intimacy, truth and vulnerability; the essence of an authentic, loving relationship. We strive to be a beacon to others as to the power of love rooted in gentleness, kindness, respect, loyalty and honest communication, supporting one another no matter what life throws at us. Our current situation is no exception. The news that we received on Oct. 30, 2020 was a devastating moment etched in our minds and lives forever. This is Peppermint’s story….
I found a lump in my left breast in August. Wanting to always take the best possible care of myself I called my Dr. right away. She scheduled a mammogram and ultrasound which revealed a mass that needed further investigation. A biopsy to evaluate the cells was then performed on Oct. 22, 2020. I was hoping for the best case scenario of the lump simply turning out to be a benign cyst but instead my worst fears came true.
Oct. 30, 2020 is a day neither Dusty nor I will ever forget. Despite current COVID restrictions they allowed him into the exam room with me. Before the Dr. even spoke the look on her face told me it wouldn't be good news. As she sat down, put her hands on her knees and took a deep breath we heard her say the words "the lump is cancerous". Dusty and I both broke down in tears. So many questions and fears swirled around in both of our heads, some spoken, some unspoken. The Dr. respectfully left the room to let us hold each other and sob for what seemed to be an eternity before we proceeded to take the next steps. After we were led out of the exam room we met with my case manager who explained the course of action needed to apply for insurance coverage and begin scheduling appointments with a surgeon, oncologist and other specialists.
I will meet with my surgeon on Nov. 9, 2020 where she will answer the myriad of questions that have come up about what the next couple of months and year ahead will look like. I will also be given a PET scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread to any other parts of my body. The road ahead will be arduous but I am determined to fight with every once of strength I have with the incredible physical and emotional support of Dusty by my side. The positive news is that I caught the cancer early and from what they can tell right now it is at Stage 1. Our fingers are crossed that it remains that way.
Your donations will help cover any uninsured medical costs, deductibles, monthly insurance premiums, co-pays, procedures and prescriptions. Dusty and I will also be missing an undetermined amount of work as I undergo and recover from surgery and any other post-operative treatments my team of Dr.s deems necessary over the course of this battle. As self-employed individuals in the adult industry we don't have the luxury of paid sick leave or vacation time to cover the missed income when we are not working.
Dusty and I have always striven to show authenticity and vulnerability in our relationship during our webcam shows on Chaturbate as well as true, unconditional love. Having him by my side as I navigate this incredibly difficult journey gives me comfort despite the fear and uncertainty we are facing.
