Pepper is my daughter’s little dog. On Friday night, April 17th, while my daughter was at her dad’s house, Pepper was attacked by their much larger dog. The attack left Pepper’s eye severely swollen, bloody, and bulging. My daughter, Gigi, was home alone with her brother and tried to get help from her dad, but he refused to come home or take Pepper to the emergency vet. Instead, he told her to put Pepper back outside, even though he was clearly in pain and badly injured.
The next morning, my daughter called me in tears, devastated and worried about Pepper. I tried to reach her dad, but he refused to get on the phone with me or help in any way. He left my daughter alone, crying and upset, with Pepper still suffering. I immediately went to pick up my daughter and Pepper and rushed them to the emergency vet hospital. The vet told us that Pepper has lost sight in his injured eye, and the best option for his quality of life is to have the eye removed through a surgery called Eye Enucleation. Seeing Pepper in so much pain and my daughter so heartbroken has been incredibly hard.
The funds from this fundraiser will go directly toward Pepper’s surgery and the medication he’ll need afterward. We don’t yet know what the follow-up costs will be, but our priority is to relieve Pepper’s pain and help him start his recovery. My daughter and I just want Pepper to be healthy and happy again, and for Gigi to have her little Pepper back by her side. Thank you so much for your help and for sharing our story. Your support means the world to us.
