Help Pepper Recover… she is such a sweet cat.
Pepper is one of our beloved cats who has always lived as an outdoor farm cat. She spends her days exploring, sunbathing, and greeting us when we come home. She is sweet, curious, and part of our family.
Yesterday, Pepper came home with a badly injured paw and a puncture wound. She was dragging her paw and clearly in pain. At first we thought maybe she had been attacked by an animal, possibly even an eagle.
So today we took her to the vet thinking her leg might be broken or dislocated. The vet thought it was probably a fracture and went to take an X-ray. After the X-ray, we were shocked and heartbroken to learn the truth.
Pepper had been shot.
The bullet shattered the bones in her paw, and the injury is too severe to repair. The only way to save her life is to amputate the paw.
I am a teacher and money is tight, but when we looked at Pepper we knew we couldn’t give up on her. She fought to get home to us and she clearly has the will to live. She deserves the chance to keep living a happy life.
Instead of putting her down, we chose surgery. Pepper’s amputation surgery is estimated to cost $1,239.57. This is a huge expense for our family right now.
After this experience, Pepper and our other three cats will be living indoors where they will be safe.
Pepper is strong and animals are incredibly resilient. Even with three paws, she can still live a full and happy life.
If you are able to donate, every little bit helps us cover Pepper’s surgery and recovery. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean so much to us.
We also hope that by sharing Pepper’s story we can bring awareness and hopefully find justice for Pepper, because no animal deserves to suffer like this. Who would shoot an innocent sweet cat? Who? I can’t believe someone would do this.
Thank you for helping give Pepper a second chance. ❤️
