Help Pepper Get Chemo Treatment

Hi everyone,

My Pepper Princess is just shy of turning five this August. I’ve had her since she fit in the palm of my hand— from Queens to the BX, Grenada, Chicago; through the hardest losses of my life, and through all of my medical schooling. She’s been my best friend, my travel companion, my emotional anchor, and the one constant I’ve had in a life that’s changed a lot recently. IYKYK.

Recently, Pepper started showing signs of illness that no one expected. She is having a hard time breathing (decreased nasal airflow, stridor, mouth breathing) despite multiple rounds of antibiotics, steroid treatments, antihistamines. She’s always been otherwise healthy—indoor-only, active, and loving. Now, under the trusted care of Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) in NYC and after multiple tests and bloodwork, her vets suspect something possibly more serious: extensive nasal polyp(s), oropharyngeal structural issue, or even lymphoma.

To achieve a diagnosis and possible cure, she needs a CT scan on July 15, which is estimated to cost $5,000*. This scan is essential to understanding what’s wrong and figuring out the best way forward. Without it we are simply waiting for her quality of life to further decline. We have exhausted all other treatment options until this point.

I’m a full-time medical student right now. I'm in b/t clinical rotations, have no income, and no safety net. Asking for help is very difficult for me—but my Pepper is worth every ounce of pride I have to swallow.
