Hi, my name is Ryan and I have started this fundraiser to help my partner and her cat Pepper. Pepper is a 3 year old, kind, gentle and loving cat (and sometimes mischievous) who was recently diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). A few years ago a FIP diagnosis was considered a dead end but in recent years it now has roughly a 90% success rate in survival if properly treated.
We have paid for his visits to the vet along with all his tests and an overnight IV drip and monitoring, but unfortunately it is getting difficult to keep up with payments for his ongoing treatment with all the other commitments in life. The money from this fundraiser will go directly to purchasing of his medicine (GS-441524), which is an 84 day treatment that is critical to his recovery and giving him the best chance at survival.
About FIP: As mentioned above FIP was once considered 100% fatal. It is a viral disease caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus (FCoV), while the virus itself is often mild, sometimes causing diarrhea, it often can go by unnoticed and requires no specific treatment. However once mutated into FIP it can lead to organ inflammation, difficulty breathing, persistent fevers. As well as visual changes such as weight-loss, abdominal swelling and neurological complications. This is why immediate treatment is vital, the treatment is incredibly effective and can lead to a normal life once again once complete.
Help us give Pepper the long happy life he deserves.
