Help people of Turkiye with the earthquake
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Nazli and I'm from Mersin Turkiye. Last night I was shaken by the messages of my friends saying "Is your family ok?". I had no idea what they were talking about until I saw "deprem" (earthquake) was trending on Twitter. Immediately I called my family and texted my friends, luckily they were ok but we know many people whose apartments collapsed since yesterday. Over 2000 buildings collapsed in less than 24 hours and the death count is not finalized yet but it's said to be over 1000 people according to CNN Turk.
Turkiye has asked for international assistance and as someone who came to study in Canada, it breaks my heart not being able to help. That's why I am reaching out to you friends and neighbours in Canada, let's unite and help people in need. Please donate whatever you can, many people will go homeless after today or they will be waiting on the streets because they don't trust that their apartments would survive another earthquake. Unfortunately, it has been very cold and snowy in some of the cities that the earthquake affected so they will need blankets and heaters as well.
The money collected will go to an NGO called Ahbap (which means friend) - I can't add them here as a charity so I will wire transfer our donations and post proof of the transaction. Here is also their twitter account. This is a very trusted organization in Turkiye and is not connected to the government.
