Last night, tragedy struck when Penny Carlisle’s home caught fire around 5:30 pm and burned to the ground. Thankfully, Penny, her husband David, and their beloved dog made it out safely and are currently staying with friends. However, the fire took everything they owned, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs. The shock and loss are unimaginable, but their safety is a blessing we’re all grateful for.
Penny is the heart of the UVA Emergency Medicine Department—always the first to lend a hand, offer a warm meal, or provide a listening ear. She’s been like a house mom to so many of us, giving selflessly and supporting others through tough times. Now, she and her family need our help more than ever. They are facing the daunting task of replacing essentials and starting over from scratch, and every bit of support will make a difference as they begin to rebuild their lives.
If you’re able, please consider donating to help Penny and her family get back on their feet. Your kindness and generosity will go directly toward helping them recover from this devastating loss. Let’s come together as a community and show Penny the same love and support she’s always shown us. Thank you so much for any help you can give.
