Help Penny overcome hardships

Donation protected
Penny is a 65-year-old disabled, two-time cancer survivor who has overcome many challenges in her life, including failed surgeries that left her unable to speak, eat or drink; the loss of her husband, Michael; a son with mental illness and legal issues; and raising two of her grandchildren on her own.

Penny was married for 44 years to her loving husband, Michael, who provided for their needs. Tragically, he passed away on October 18, 2019, leaving her to navigate life’s challenges on her own. Their financial burdens continue to pile up, and her outgoing bills exceed her disability income each month. No matter how much she tries to pay off, she falls further behind, and the stress is overwhelming.

Penny is a survivor of squamous cell carcinoma, an aggressive cancer that spreads to tissue and bone. Due to this illness, she has been unable to speak, eat or drink for several years and must rely entirely on a G-tube for nutrition. The disease led to two failed attempts at reconstructing her lower jaw, resulting in the loss of most of her tongue. Her battle with cancer, combined with the long-term effects of treatment, has caused severe complications. Extended medication use led to a bowel rupture, requiring emergency surgery and leaving her with a colostomy bag.

Additionally, last year she suffered a devastating loss when two men, fleeing from law enforcement after a drive-by shooting, hid in her rental home. SWAT was called in, and during the raid, her windows were shattered, her home was filled with mustard gas, and chemicals burned holes in her mattresses. In the aftermath, Penny, her grandkids, and son were left homeless for six months, staying in hotels with the help of family and friends.

Despite all of this, she remains strong for her family. She loves them dearly, no matter their struggles, and wants to continue being there for them. With mounting medical expenses, household bills, and the loss of her husband’s income, Penny has found herself in a dire financial situation. She receives disability from Social Security, but it is not enough to support her family and cover the costs of their essential needs.

Now, Penny is reaching out to ask for assistance. If you feel led to help, any contribution would go toward repairing vehicles, paying off outstanding bills, and helping her family regain stability.
If you can, please consider donating through GoFundMe. Any help, no matter how small, would make a world of difference.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to her story and for any support you can offer. Your kindness means more than words can express.

With gratitude,
