Our dear friend Penny King has had a rough year. She was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer last year. She has now been through extensive chemotherapy, surgery and more chemotherapy afterwards.
In April she was cancer free and told to come back in July for more tests. After her tests in July she was told the cancer is back. Her best chance of survival now is a combination of traditional and alternative medicine. The traditional doctor has told her she can’t cure her, but can maintain her.
The alternative care will be administered through a MD/ naturopath doctor. The alternative methods are not covered by any insurance; it’s out of pocket only. She will be receiving lighter doses of chemo along with vitamin C infusions 2 times a week for a month to start. Each infusion will cost $1,800.00 which is $14,400.00/per month. This will go on for many months with her healing.
Penny’s main concern is for her husband Barry as she has been his caregiver since his heart transplant and strokes.
We live in such a wonderful, caring community that has the means to help our friend survive.
