Penny has been by my side for over 10 years, and she means more to me than I can verbalize. She is a rescue from down South who we adopted in 2015, when she was about a year old—sensitive, gentle, and loving. Penny has been such a constant source of unconditional love and comfort. (And, for those reading this from the Chewie's Playland community, she has also been part of the Chewie's family for nearly 10 years and has been so loved there throughout that time).

Recently, Penny was diagnosed with cancer which has been devastating and terrifying. Navigating her treatment has already been extremely costly with an initial surgery, tests/imaging, and an oncology consult at a specialty hospital—and there are more large expenses ahead, including an ongoing immunotherapy treatment she recently started. The funds raised will go towards her treatments and therapies, tests and imaging, and potentially an additional surgery. While total ongoing expenses will exceed $10,000, we are starting with smaller milestones so you may notice the goal amount change over time. The first $1,400 will cover her next immunotherapy treatment, scheduled for 4/10.

After her first surgery, when I received the bad news from the doctor, I was crying on the phone to my dad. He reminded me of how far Penny has come since we adopted her and how much love and care we have given her throughout her life. He said, "You saved that dog." Through sobs, I replied "She saved me, too."

This has been an incredibly difficult, overwhelming, and stressful situation, both emotionally/mentally and financially. Any contribution will help to ease some of the financial burden, and is so appreciated as we continue navigating Penny's care and treatment.
