The Penn Ethics Bowl team was founded just a year and a half ago, born from the passion of students who discovered a shared interest in ethical discussion and debate. Our team began as a small group curating weekly discussions, meeting regularly to explore ethical case studies and think critically about moral questions. Over time, our dedication grew, and so did our ambitions.
In November 2025, we competed in the virtual regionals hosted by DePauw’s Prindle Institute for Ethics. We placed third and earned a spot at the National Ethics Bowl in St. Louis this March. This was such a huge achievement for our team.
As we prepare for Nationals, we face a significant challenge: as a recently established group, we have not received financial support from the University of Pennsylvania. While Penn is a well-resourced university, new student groups like ours don't usually get recognized to receive funding, and our requests for support have not been successful. That means we need to raise the funds ourselves to cover the essential costs for our team and coach.
Here’s what your support will help cover:
- Team registration for the competition
- Travel for the team to and from St. Louis in March
- Hotel accommodations for two nights
- Meals for all team members and our coach
Attending Nationals isn’t just about competing. It’s also about honoring the passion that brought us together and opening doors for future students who want to pursue Ethics Bowl at Penn. With your support, we can represent our university on a national stage, show what dedicated students can achieve, and help establish the Penn Ethics Bowl team for years to come. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal. Thank you for believing in us and helping us make this dream a reality!
