Support for the Mullet Family's Emergency Medical Bills

Earlier this year, my then 4-month-old niece Penelope (daughter of Katherine and Shandon Mullet) developed sudden respiratory distress. She was taken to the local ER, and from there was emergently transferred by helicopter to VCU, as she has a rare genetic condition which impairs her body's ability to clear mucus and led to a viral illness quickly becoming life-threatening. We are so grateful she recovered rapidly, and has been doing well the last several months.

Unfortunately, Katherine and Shandon have just found out that the $93,000 helicopter bill will not be covered by their healthcare plan. They were able to get the bill reduced to $30,000, but this amount must be paid within the next two months and poses a significant financial burden, particularly in conjunction with the other bills from Penelope's hospitalization and her two week NICU stay immediately after birth. Any amount you feel able to give would be tremendously appreciated!
