My name is Tammra, and I first met Peggy 24 years ago when she became my client. My job was to help her stay strong and mobile so she could continue living life on her own terms. Over the years, our professional relationship grew into a deep friendship. Peggy is single, has no children, and has always inspired me with her strength, resilience, and positive spirit.

For the past 15 years, Peggy has lived as a paraplegic. She needs daily caregiver support for essential tasks — including getting in and out of bed with a lift, showering, and other basic care. I continue to donate my services to help her stay as strong and independent as possible, but the rest of her care costs have become overwhelming. Her personal funds are nearly gone, and there is no government assistance available to help her remain in her small home, where she feels safe and comfortable.

Peggy is now facing the heartbreaking possibility of being moved into a nursing home long before she is ready. To make matters worse, she is being forced to sell her hand‑control van — the one thing that allowed her to get out into the community and maintain a sense of independence.
