Peggy is our 9-month-old Boston Terrier who fills our days with laughter and love. She’s always on the move—whether she’s riding the lawn mower, hopping on the 4-wheeler, or joining us for a car ride. Peggy has a way of making every moment special, from carrying her bowl into the kitchen at dinnertime to sitting in the sink just to keep me company. She loves swimming in the creek by our home and never misses a chance to share her joy, even if it means jumping on us while she’s still soaking wet.

Recently, Peggy needed surgery on both her eyes because her lower lids were rolling inward, causing her lashes and lids to rub painfully against her corneas. We managed to save enough for this first surgery, but Peggy now faces another challenge: she needs surgery on both her back legs due to a condition where her kneecaps dislocate. When this happens, we have to gently put them back in place, which is painful for her. The surgery needs to happen soon, while she’s still young, and her recovery will be long—she’ll need to be crated to restrict her movement and will require therapy at home.

We are on a pension and my husband is disabled. Covering Peggy’s eye surgery has stretched our finances to the limit, and we have nothing left for her leg surgery. Peggy is more than just a pet—she’s our only companion, especially with our families living far away. After losing our two elderly dogs within nine months of each other, Peggy brought light and laughter back into our lives.
