The wildfires devastated the lives of thousands of families, including ours.

My son, Pedro, his wife, Alex, and their 3-year-old little girl, lost everything.

Our family lived in Santa Monica for 24 years and Pedro was raised in the westside community where he made many friends and created a life for himself. My husband and I are now living in Brazil so we can't offer housing or the support they need in the area.

Like many others in the community, they were left with only ashes.

The tiny beautiful home created in their small rental and all their personal belongings are gone. They are now faced with the overwhelming task of getting their lives back on track.

Pedro has been a LA County Lifeguard for the past 15 years and Alex has been working for Fitness by The Sea; a children's beach camp at Will Rogers State Beach for the past 10 years.

The road ahead is long and uncertain, but we know that with support, resilience, love, and faith, they can start on the road of getting back the community they hold dearly in their hearts.
