Pecan is a tiny, spicy kitten rescued from a feral colony where the kittens were playing in traffic. About a week ago, she started to lose weight and didn't want to eat. I felt a huge, hard mass in her stomach, almost like she swallowed a golf ball, and took her right to Route 66 Emergency Veterinary! It turned out this little ball of fluff and spice was full to the brim with poop! Full of poop and rage! Unfortunately, little Pecan was diagnosed with megacolon, which is a chronic condition in cats where the colon becomes stretched and weakened, often filling with hardened feces. It's the most common cause of obstipation, or complete constipation, in cats.

And that’s exactly what happened to Pecan! Her X-rays showed her filled with the most hardened poop the vets had seen in a kitten, and she is now hospitalized while the vets attempt to break up the mass of poop. Unfortunately, her prognosis is guarded, and she may need to have surgery to remove the poop if they can’t get it to pass with enemas, medication, and sedated massage.

I thought I might choose to surrender or euthanize, but she is so full of fight, growling while she tries to poop, and I just had to give her a chance! Unfortunately, her bill is already at $3,410.10, and that’s before a possible surgery. There is a rescue willing to pitch in with her potential surgery and follow-up care, but I need to raise at least half of her bill.

Pecan has so much fight; I really want to give her this chance, and I’d be so appreciative of any donations!
