Peanut came into our lives in August of 2025, a tiny ball of love and joy. He is a distinguished gentleman, expert cuddler, and avid lizard hunter. Very accomplished skills for a mere two year old pup!
Peanut has not been a part of our family for very long, but as soon as we brought him home, we knew he would be a perfect fit. He took to our other fur baby Churro immediately and they have since fostered together a beautiful brotherly relationship. We could not imagine life without him.
Unfortunately, Peanut slipped a disc in his back in December while we were out of town and lost use of his back legs. This required extensive emergency surgery. Accidents like this can be quite common in dachshunds and are unfortunately quite difficult to prevent. As you can imagine, the cost of this surgery was astronomical not just for us, but probably for the average person in general as well.
Peanut was extremely brave and did very well during surgery. He is now resting at home, but it will be a long road to recovery. We are in good spirits and hoping he will regain full use of his back legs. While doggie wheelchairs are adorable, we want him to be able to live the rest of his life to the fullest. Those lizards are not gonna chase themselves!
We are eternally grateful for all the love and support we have received thus far. As all animal lovers know, we would do anything for our babies. The cost of Peanut's surgery is a financial burden we were more than willing to bear. However, it is still a burden and we are sharing his story in hopes that others may find it in their hearts to donate.
The amount we are asking for would be to cover the cost of his initial surgery costs, hospital stay, recovery, and any potential physical therapy he may need in the future.
Anything helps, whether you'd like to do so monetarily or even by just sharing this page for others to see.
Wishing you and yours a Happy Holiday Season from Natasha, Jacob, Churro and little Peanut!
