Hi Everyone,
We're reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your help for a very special dog named Peach - a sweet, goofy, affectionate girl who means the world to her family.
Recently, while her family was out of town, Peach managed to hop a backyard fence. The friend who was dog-sitting tried to catch her, but Peach darted off before they could reach her. Tragically, she was hit by a car.
Peach was rushed to the emergency vet with multiple serious injuries. She sustained trauma to her lungs, a fractured pelvis, and a dislocated hip that may require a leg amputation. She requires immediate and ongoing life-saving care and surgery. The good news: Peach is a fighter. The veterinary team believes she has a strong chance at survival and recovery with the right treatment. But the medical bills are already staggering -- and still growing.
Current Vet Bill: $11,000 and climbing
Peach's family is doing everything they can to support her, but this kind of sudden emergency is beyond what they can afford. The estimate for her full treatment and recovery could easily reach $15,000-$20,000, depending on how she responds to care in the coming days and weeks.
This is where we're hoping you can help.
Why Peach Matters
Peach isn't just a pet - she's family. She and her surviving littermates were rescued in 2019 from a puppy mill in south Texas. Unfortunately in 2020, the shelter that rescued her ran out of money and she was abandoned and left to starve. A Denver-based dog rescue went down to get Peach - then weighing only 30lbs - and relocated her here to Colorado. After that rescue was able to bring her up to a healthy weight, she was adopted by the Heyd family.
Once she found her forever home, she truly blossomed! Her past may have been full of hardship, but you wouldn't know it by meeting her. She is the sweetest, kindest dog you'll ever meet. She brings joy, laughter, and love to everyone she meets. Her nickname is Piglet because she snorts when she's happy and softly snores in her sleep. Whether it's snuggling on the couch, playing with the family's children, or greeting everyone at the door with whole-body tail wags, Peach is pure sunshine.
She's still got so much life to live, and her family is desperate to give her that chance. With your support, Peach can get the life-saving surgeries and aftercare she needs to come home.

24 Hour Update
Thank you so much for checking in on our girl — we wanted to share an update from the last 24 hours.
Peach is still in the emergency vet and will be there at least another day as we continue to focus on stabilizing her internal trauma before we can even begin to address the hip fracture. She’s shown small but meaningful signs of progress — a lot of little procedures, followed by “wait and see” moments, but we’re moving in the right direction.
The amazing veterinary team has placed tubes on both sides of her chest to help remove air from her chest cavity. The trapped air has decreased significantly, though she still needs some drained every few hours. She remains on oxygen therapy (not always her favorite), and the vet techs have been incredible in helping her get outside for short potty breaks.
She’s still on IV fluids and pain meds, but she continues to be her gentle, loving self through it all. Every doctor, tech, and nurse has fallen in love with Peach — they’ve cared for her so tenderly, and we’re so grateful for the compassion surrounding her.
Thank you for all your support, love, and encouragement. It’s been a scary couple of days, but seeing small steps forward gives us so much hope.

48 Hour Update
Thank you all for your amazing response! Peach is doing ok right now, we’re hoping that she will be stable enough to have her big operation tomorrow. The veterinary team and her family have decided that her best chance at having a normal, happy life is to proceed with a leg amputation. While this isn’t anyone’s first choice, we’ve been assured that dogs with three legs do very well post-operation and can continue to live a full and mobile life! Her family and the care team are all committed to giving her that chance!
If you’ve been with us this far, we want you to know that your support means the world to her and to all of us. Please send prayers, positive thoughts, and continue to share her story if possible.
Thank you so much!

Update: Peach’s Surgery — Success!
Peach is home and resting after surgery . She’s officially a tripod dog and developed quite the fan club over at the ER (they nicknamed her Princess Peach). Today she was welcomed by a team at her family vet for the big surgery (she also has a huge fan club there too). Deciding to amputate was probably the hardest decision we’ve had to make with a pet. It’s going to be a journey to recovery but she’s worth it.
We continue to be SO thankful and eternally grateful for all of your support.
