Hi, I’m Jenny, and I’d love to share the story of a little fighter named Pea — my peahen who wasn’t supposed to make it.
When Pea entered my world almost two years ago, she was no bigger than my palm—a fragile, fluff-covered ball of hope that barely had the strength to lift her head. But something in her eyes—bright, alert, fighting—told me I had to try.
I was asked to help Pea with her initial care, as it was uncertain at that point whether she would make it. Pea was born with mobility struggles and complications with her neck.
What followed were months, of sleepless nights, around-the-clock feedings, gentle warming pads, and whispered encouragements as she slowly, so slowly, began to gain strength. I can’t count how many times I held my breath watching her struggle to stand.
She needed many hands to survive—mine, a few friends, a kind vet who offered endless advice for many late nights, and the support from friends who believed in her just as much as I did.
We discovered that Pea had a condition affecting her neck muscles and spine, leaving her vulnerable and unable to thrive without my assistance. With the help of a team of kind-hearted professionals and animal lovers, Pea was fitted with a custom 3D-printed neck brace, allowing her to finally feed herself.
She was also fitted with special 3D printed boot to assist with her mobility. The fashionable boot is a small but mighty tool that helped her stand, balance, and even take her first small steps on her own.
Pea is now a stunning, vibrant young peahen with the most curious personality and the willpower of a lion. Her strength and spirit has won over the hearts of many other animals in our home, particularly our dogs, who never leave her side. They gently nudge her when she needs encouragement and curl up beside her during nap time. It’s been a beautiful bond to witness.
Pea’s growing fast—and a specialised enclosure is desperately what she needs. She currently lives as a house Pea and as much as this is Pea’s normal, it isn’t an ideal scenario.
She needs a space designed to better suit her needs, lots of enrichment, more sunshine and some special friends so she can truly thrive.
That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe ❤️I’m asking for help to raise £5000 to build Pea a suitable enclosure that gives her the freedom, safety, and quality of life she deserves. In order to do so, I will have to restructure the layout of existing enclosures to allow space, which adds to the cost.
Your donation will help cover:
• Materials for a larger, secure enclosure.
• Restructure of existing enclosures that require moving, in order to carry out the new build.
• Enrichment features within her space, for her physical and mental well-being
•. Pea’s existing medical costs.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bring Pea’s dream to life. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing Pea’s story. She’s already a miracle. Let’s give her a space as beautiful as the spirit she fought so hard to keep.
Thank you for being part of her journey.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Jenny & Pea ❤️️
