Hi, my name is Joe. I'm a gay trans man and hobby artist, and I'm having carpal tunnel surgery. Urgent carpal tunnel surgery. On my dominant hand. The nerve is dying; I'm dropping things, I'm losing my (literal) grip on even light objects. I'm in constant pain every day, And I've been forced to drop basically all of my hobbies due to the pain. It's a miserable experience that I'd like to try and remedy!
This is bad on its own, but my job REQUIRES repeated arm motions (I work in a deli!!) and so I can't even do my job well or without pain anymore.
I can afford the surgery (mostly), and I won't lose my job during my recovery... but for six weeks, I'll be receiving only 1/3 of my paycheck, which means that for six weeks, I'll be 400 dollars a week short of the money that feeds my household, pays our rent and phone and electric bills, and so on. I do have a husband, but he's fully disabled and receives only a small amount of SSI, which is reduced because we dared to get married when gay marriage was legalized. So for the two of us to be able to keep our home and utilities and eat, I need help. WE need help.
The goal is set for the 2,400 dollars in pay I'm losing during those six weeks, plus the cost of the surgery (and a little extra for GoFundMe's percentage. Any amount helps. One dollar, five dollars, a boost, anything. Thank you!!
